K-8 COLLEGE & CAREER PREP MODEL
In Texas, only 36% of Texas graduates are completing a 2-year or 4-year college degree within six years, despite a 90% high school graduation rate. Great work is currently underway to reverse this trend in high school grades. TEA supports two college and career readiness school models: Early College High School (ECHS) and Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH). These models have proven effective in helping students least likely to attend college an opportunity to receive both a high school diploma and a credential and/or an associate degree.
